Teaching TV Production in a Digital World Integrating Media Literacy, Teacher Edition

Kenny's exciting, alternative approach to teaching first year television production to high school students uses a combination of direct instruction, class discussion, and independent and inter-disciplinary video action projects to prepare students for a year-end video competition. Engaging projects based on the concept of thematic mapping borrow knowledge and information from other academic subject areas to teach media and visual literacy, broadcast history, video production skills, and multimedia animation. The instructor manual is supplemented by a student workbook which introduces students to instructional information through fill-in-the-blanks questioning. The workbooks also contain checklists and background information to aid students in completing the projects.
